This is a detailed review of the LG Ultra HD 4K TV. Read this report to view it's performance and features.

A hotel in Benin had me review this TV for them and I must say I was truly impressed.

This TV is from the popular LG brand and it is one of a kind. It is priced at a whopping 24,327,620 naira. That’s twenty four million, three-hundred-and-twenty-seven-thousand, six hundred and twenty naira.

It’s pricey, it’s prestigious, it’s obviously not for everyone but it’s worth every dime.

You must be rubbing your fingers now, wondering just what this system is capable of. So without further ado, let us take a quick look at the specs.

LG 105" 4K UHD TV Review

Display

The display does the UHD species proud. It is far superior to ordinary HD TVs like the Polystar set I reviewed the other day.

It has up to eight aspect ratio modes and of course a universal screen ratio to fit any device you sync with it.

I was blown away by the really wide viewing angle and the pure absence of screen burn. If you’ve ever been privileged to make use of an OLED, then you’ll be conversant with the menace of screen burns.

Screen burns are like ghosts of past scenes that remain on the screen for a few seconds.

This TV has the glorious display of a plasma screen with incredible colour separation, and blacks that are almost pure black. Also there is no sign of motion blur. With this TV, you can truly watch your TV shows come alive.

If that doesn’t excite you, let me add that this TV is 3D capable. So yes, you don’t need to go to the cinema to watch  3D movies. The 3D glasses that come with the set will ensure you enjoy one of the most enthralling features of TV experience.

With breath-taking display features like this, this LG curved TV gets 5 out 5 stars.

Sound

It’s got that smooth bass that tingles and makes you want to hear more. I’m talking, Dolby sound system at its peak. There is nothing like excessive resonance. This TV can get really loud if you want it to.

But it’s the clear frequency distinction that I truly admire. Some TVs suffer from high pitched volumes but the sound from this set is so clear that you’ll barely feel the need for subtitles.

Added to this, it’s got three HDMI ports and two USB ports with an optical port in case you feel the need to connect an external sound system.

Since I’ve got no issues with the sound, it gets another 5 out of 5 stars based on sound alone.

Energy Consumption

For a TV this wide, 105 inches, you’d naturally assume it guzzles electricity. Well think again. Its energy usage is so economical that its standby wattage is just about 0.3W. The normal energy rating is 90w.

The power saving feature does tend to dim the display a considerable lot so be sure it is not left on by default. This way, you can enjoy the full range of its cinematic display.

It works great with low voltage too but you’re not advised to stress it so.
Based on energy usage alone, it gets another 5 out of 5 stars.

Is LG 4K UHD TV Smart

Short answer, yes it is. In every way.
It has an inbuilt browser with full capabilities. You can stream from popular services like Netflix, Youtube and the likes.

It has Miracast too.  Miracast is the facility that makes it possible for you to screencast from your phone to the TV. If you don’t know how to do this, I wrote a bit on it here.

Apart from screen casting, it comes equipped with LG’s famous magic remote. Using this remote made me wonder why all remotes aren’t created the same way.

The remote works just like a computer mouse. You can use it to direct a cursor that can go anywhere on the screen.

By pressing the voice button, you can easily speak with Google assistant just like you do on your android phone.

Also, you can make use of the voice recognition facility to do stuff like open apps, search for info on Google and lots more. All this you can do just by speaking to the remote.

If the voice feature is turned on, the TV can read out open menus to you. You may decide to turn off this feature depending on your preferences.

And if all this still doesn’t blow your mind away, let me add the fact that it has an inbuilt camera. This camera is just as good as that of a Samsung galaxy S9.

This TV takes smartness out of the park. Totally 5 out 5 stars.

Portability/Durability

Like most flat screens, it is really thin. This makes it seem fragile. But unlike smaller flat screens, it is quite heavy. The stand weighs about 150kg. So you'll need help moving it around.

Since it's not an OLED, you don't have to worry about short lifespan that comes from prolonged usage.

I don't know about a warranty but that would be appropriate considering the high cost.
