7 Things You Absolutely Need To Know About Elemax SH7600EX Generator
My current generator is not an Elemax generator.
Its a Parsun gen that guzzles fuel like a glutton.
Its a Parsun gen that guzzles fuel like a glutton.
It makes me miss my Lutian gen which I gifted out to a friend.
Apart from guzzling fuel, it struggles to carry my freezer and roars like a wounded lion even under light load.
It is a nightmare. Maybe it’s behaving this way because I’ve used it for over two years.
Maybe I have not maintained it properly or used the right oil.
I need a new-gen. That’s obvious. This is why I was quite pleased with this Elemax generator when I got to review it.
I don’t own it per say but I manage it for a departmental office in Uniben.
It’s got quite a price on it but as you’ll see; it’s worth it.
It’s got quite a price on it but as you’ll see; it’s worth it.
And I’ve used it for about eighteen months so far.
Now these are the 7 things you have to know about this generator.
Is this Gen worth your Money?
You should only consider a generator that has a fuel consumption rate you’re comfortable with and that suits your energy needs.
So it would be good for you if you need a gen that can power your borehole pump and air conditioners ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 hp.
I’ve seen it carry two 1hp air conditioners while powering other appliances like a fridge and TV set.
If you want to use it to power a borehole pump, I would advise you to switch off other heavy appliances like air conditioners or ovens.
Although that depends on the wattage of the pump.
If the pump is a small pump like 250 watts, you don’t need to switch off other appliances.
This gen raises about 5200 watts so it can carry a good amount of load.
As for fuel consumption, it uses about 3.1 liters of petrol every hour.
This is great for a gen of it’s size but it may not be great for you.
This is great for a gen of it’s size but it may not be great for you.
So if you’re looking for generators that use less than 2 liters per hour, maybe you should check for a smaller generator.
Elemax 6.5 kva Design
This Elemax SH7600EX gen is red, with an open rectangular build.
It has a front panel where you will find the ignition keyhole, and two output sockets for connecting load.
You will also find the AVR meter.

Like most generators with this design, you can easily see the Honda Gx340 engine resting on the two metal bases.
The battery also rests on the base.
It’s not a very modern design but it’s functional.
Just like my Parsun gen, the oil opening is kind of awkward.
The manufacturers never seem to get it right with these smaller gens.
So filling or draining the oil might require the use of a funnel or trough as the case may be.
It also has 4 black wheels and two handles for easy movement.
PS: I call it a small gen because that’s what I call any gen below 10 kva.
But it’s a lot bigger than your usual 'I better pass my neighbor'.

Noise Level
It’s not a noisy generator. So as long as it is in good condition, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about disturbing the neighbors.
The gen in the video has been used for almost two years and the noise level is still manageable.
Some Yamaha generators would not sound that nice after being used for that long.

Performance
So I have already explained the amount of load it can carry.
It can power your washing machine, deep freezer (200L), a small fridge, light bulbs, ceiling fans and a TV set at the same time.
It would also carry a microwave that is 1000w or slightly more while still powering other appliances.
And it’s very capable of handling loads like air conditioners so long as they are below 3hp.
Just know that the maximum amount of load it will carry is about 5200 watts.
The Honda Gx340 engine really shines through with this gen.
I’ve used it on an inclined surface before and there was no talk of over floating.
This is important if you have to use the generator in a limited space like a business center where it’s difficult to find space to place your gen or you can’t find a good flat surface.
Also if you’re in the habit of tilting your gen because you want to use up every last drop of fuel, then you’re safe with this gen.
This is because the engine is designed in such a way that it does not overfloat.
Other brands tend to over float when you tilt them this way.
Or worse, oil can get into the wrong places forcing you to service your gen.
Or worse, oil can get into the wrong places forcing you to service your gen.
The oil alert system also works as advertised and thankfully it doesn’t guzzle too much oil.
Please note that the kind of oil you use matters a lot.
The best oil for this gen is Honda oil. Below is a photo.

If you can’t find it anywhere then try and order it from Amazon.
The best alternative is Prime guard which is also an SAE 10 W30 oil.

Durability
This Elemax generator is strong and if you’ve been following this write up, has lasted almost two years without any noticeable change in performance.
One thing I really like is the fact that the battery is still working.
Although I figure it should pack up in a few months.
Although I figure it should pack up in a few months.
One useful tip is to try and use the starter rope once in a while even if the battery is still good.
This increases the lifespan of the battery. Also disconnect the battery terminals from the gen when you’re not using it.
The fuel and oil consumption is still the same as when it was bought and the sound has not increased.
This may be due to the fact that the department endeavors to use the right oil.
To be honest the only problem it developed was that of a dead spark plug a few months ago.
Also it’s one of those gens that has actual copper windings.
And as any generator enthusiast knows, generators with copper windings are superior to those with aluminum windings.

The price varies across various vendor. You can get it from any generator seller or order it online depending on your preference.
Portability
It has four wheels and two handles for easy movement.
But it is best suited for hard surfaces like concrete or terrazzo.
But it is best suited for hard surfaces like concrete or terrazzo.
It would be almost impossible to wheel through sandy soil.
It is also quite heavy so you wouldn’t be able to carry it up a flight of stairs without the help of another person.
This generator is good for it’s range and is a great source of power for small retail businesses, departmental offices and family residences.
Depending on your energy needs this Elemax gen may be suitable for you.
Just bear in mind that it has a solid performance, and is very durable.
