Rockview 3.1 Home Theater Review

Rockview is a Chinese brand that has no presence online. So it’s impossible to look them up and learn about their products.

This of course made me skeptical about this Rockview 3.1 channel home theater system.

But I have come to notice that this sound system has a couple of undeniable selling points.

It is affordable. On a lucky day you could find it for under 20,000 naira. This is probably one its most appealing qualities.

It has nice connectivity features. You can connect it to virtually anything. Your TV, DVD player, game console, laptop e.t.c… It’s not easy to find a cheap sound system that has good connectivity.

It has good sound too. The clarity is not 100% but quite okay. It also has great bass. I like the way you can adjust the sound pitch to your preference.

Has nice plastic frame that is durable and is also pleasant to the eyes.

The Rockview 3.1 CH home theater system has a combined output power of 180w.

With such an output power rating, you won’t expect it to be so loud. But it’s got powerful sound like the sound you would get from the speakers in a KIA motor.

The sound gets slightly distorted at low volumes. It is a bit fuzzy. It’s not distorted enough to ruin your audio experience but its noticeable.

The good thing is that your ears will get used to it in a short while.

This Rockview home theater has treble and rifts quite good for a bookshelf sound system.

I also like the volume steps. They are not too far apart and make it very easy to adjust the sound to acceptable volumes.

I’ve noticed that the sound quality differs for various inputs. In simple English, sound from bluetooth is better than sound from an aux port.

So you may notice that when you pair your Smartphone's bluetooth with this system, the sound is a bit better than when you play sound from your DVD player for example.

It’s just the way it was made.

Connectivity

Like I said it has an aux port for connecting with your TV or DVD player.

It also has HDMI for your decoder or game consoles. And then it has a well functioning bluetooth feature that can receive from up to 25 ft.

It also has a USB port and FM mode. Although the FM receiver is not very strong so the radio is not always clear unless you place the receiver at a good height.

Not many home theater systems have this much connection options. Take for example this Lloyd Home Theater.

Size

The central speaker is just about 2ft tall and 1.5 ft wide. While the left and right surround speakers are 2ft tall and 1 ft wide.

So it’s a bookshelf sound system. It’s suitable for anyone with a listening distance of 6- 12 from.

Its not really meant for rooms over 15ft. And it is definitely not for outdoor use. It doesn’t have enough power for public occasions.

Power consumption

This home theater system works well on low voltage although you’re better off using it with a surge protector to protect it from erratic power supply.

It consumes less power too. The power consumption is just 90 w. So compared to other home theater systems it doesn’t is much power.

Durability

I’ve not observed this product for long. But it looks solid. So long as you use it with care and don’t force it to work at high volumes for several hours them it should be fine.

I don’t think it’s a system that can withstand prolonged heavy duty use. Like blaring the speakers for 5 hours straight. So don’t try to use the speakers for roadside advertisement.

It may not last.

Price

The cheap price makes this home theater an attractive product. You can view the current offers on Jumia.

Some vendors sell it with a DVD player. This of course increases the price a bit.

But you can find a vendor that just sells the sound system especially if you already have a DVD player.

This Rockview 3.1 home theater is great for you if you are on a tight budget.

This is because it will give you good sound with great bass (much better than your TV or Smartphone speakers) and also offer you several connection options while being pocket friendly.

It is not a mind blowing home theater but it is great especially for it’s price.
